Dr. Mark House was born in Ontario, Canada and grew up there most of his life. At a young age he was interested in the care and well being of his own pets and aspired to be a veterinarian. He began saving for veterinary school doing odd jobs such as newspaper delivery, mowing lawns, landscaping, working at a hardware store, working at a machine shop and then finally working at local veterinary clinics. Since a veterinary education is a long, expensive process, he focused on it continually with the goal of one day being able to help companion animals. Dr. House graduated veterinary school from Ontario Veterinary College in 2004, which is located in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. As he had a strong interest in small animal surgery, Dr. House subsequently moved to Columbus, Ohio where he completed a one year general internship at The Ohio State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Next he relocated to Long Island, NY where he continued his training at the prestigious specialty hospital, Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS). At LIVS from 2005-2006, Dr. House completed a surgery internship where he began gaining an extensive surgery skill set. Following the surgery internship program completion, Dr. House was invited to remain at LIVS to complete a 3 year surgery residency program. From 2006-2009, Dr. House continued his surgical training at LIVS where he trained in a vast array of surgery procedures covering the realm of soft tissue, orthopedic and neurologic diseases. As LIVS was an extremely busy hospital, Dr. House was able to perform over 1200 surgical procedures in his 4 year period at LIVS giving him a large skill set and knowledge base of surgical diseases. Although every animal is different and diseases can present in many forms, having a vast experience aids in providing the best well rounded ability to help pets requiring surgical procedures. Following completion of the residency program in 2009, Dr. House moved to Phoenix, AZ where he practiced surgery at a busy specialty hospital until 2011. During this time, he successfully completed the board certification requirements for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and in 2010 Dr. House passed the certification exam to become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

After finally completing his veterinary training, an 11 year process, Dr. House is now happy to focus his efforts on helping small animals who require surgery treatment, and putting his outside efforts into his family. When not working he spends his time hiking, camping, canoeing, and repairing his home from the chaos of three young, inquisitive kids!
